Self-Healing Bone Cement Using Squid Ring Teeth Protein
The following poster has been made following a comprehensive literature review to present findings in an easily understandable way using a visually appealing design.
Designed a novel self-healing bone cement using SRT proteins to improve outcomes in total hip arthroplasty and reduce implant failure rates.
Implemented sustainability principles throughout the whole Life Cycle and critically assessed any possible shortcomings.
Presented findings through a poster presentation.
Cardiac Tissue Engineering
The research theme of cardiac tissue engineering was selected due to the high prevalence and severity of heart diseases and the limitations of currents treatments: cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally.
A comprehensive literature review was conducted, and the findings were presented structured around the four pillars of tissue engineering, with a strong emphasis on future innovations.
First ranked research poster out of a cohort of around 200 students:

North African Desert Scorpion for Sand Erosion Resistance
Proposed the implementation of a desert scorpion-inspired biomimetic functional surface to reduce erosion of solar panels.
